Fluid
Inclusion Microthermometry
A specialized heating and cooling microscope stage is available for the study of fluid inclusions in minerals or for studies of other high- or low-temperature phase transitions. The temperature range for this stage is from -196°C to +700°C. This instrument has been used to estimate temperatures, pressures, densities, and compositions of fluids present during the formation of many ore deposits, pegmatites, and other rocks and minerals. The microscope is also equipped with a UV fluorescence system for the analysis of hydrocarbon fluid inclusions and studies of petroleum migration.
