Analytical Chemistry Facility (AAS and ICP-MS)

The Analytical Chemistry Facility uses a Perkin-Elmer 5000 atomic absorption spectrophotomer (AAS) and an Agilent HP5000 inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) used to determine trace amounts of metals in solution.  The laboratory also conducts metal assaying including classical gold fire assay methods, and performs many other types of analysis following standard gravimetric, colorometric, spectrophotometric, and wet-chemical methods.
